Kathmandu, Sept 10: The CPN (UML) has expressed deep concern over the unusual events that have occurred in the country. The party has expressed deep sorrow over the incident where many deaths occurred due to police firing during the protest, as well as hundreds being injured in the incident.
Issuing a joint statement UML General Secretary Shankar Pokhrel and Deputy General Secretary Pradeep Gyawali have paid tributes to the deceased and wished for the speedy recovery of the injured.
There is serious concern that public and private property has suffered damage worth billions and that thousands of inmates have been released from prison.
The statement also mentioned that the role of security agencies should be reviewed. In such adverse circumstances, the statement urged the party ranks to remain steadfast and united, saying, "It is essential to be cautious, united, and move forward with firm conviction at this time." Urging the President to initiate meaningful dialogue and address the demands of the youth generation, UML stated that the solution to the current political situation should be sought through constitutional and democratic processes.
