Kathmandu, Aug 24: Minister for Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation Deepak Khadka said the Teej festival helps foster goodwill.
Addressing the Teej celebration programme organized by the Sakhuwasabha-Kathmandu Journalists Association here Sunday, Minister Khadka noted that the Teej festival, considered as the festival observed only by the Hindu women in the past, is now developing into a common celebration.
The Minister also highly acknowledged the role of the media persons hailing from Sankhuwasabha district and pursuing journalism in Kathmandu in development of Sankhuwasabha on religious and cultural fronts.
Likewise, CPN (UML) leader Rajendra Gautam highlighted the important role of Teej festival in empowering women. However, he expressed his concern that the festival was being commercialized in the recent years.
Leaders from various political parties attending the Teej celebration and the Association's Chairperson Shankar Khanal also expressed their views on the Teej festival.(RSS)
