Gulmi, Aug. 7: After the water flow increased in the Bardhare River along the Ridi-Harmichaur section of the Kaligandaki Corridor, locals have constructed a makeshift bridge to cross the river.
According to local Birendra Aryal, the makeshift bridge was constructed by the locals at the border of Satyawati Rural Municipality and Kaligandaki Rural Municipality over the Bardhare River, as rising water levels disrupted movement.
With the construction of this bridge along the Ridi–Harmichaur road section of the Kaligandaki Corridor, travel during the rainy season has become easier, said Birendra Aryal of Harmichaur, Kaligandaki Rural Municipality-1.
Khadgabir Thapa, Chairman of Ward No. 2 of Satyawati Rural Municipality, said that Pahadi in Ward No. 2 of Satyawati and Harmichaur in Kaligandaki shared a close relationship. Now, with the construction of the temporary bridge, travel has become easier for pedestrians.
Thapa also informed that there was a verbal agreement for Satyawati Rural Municipality to cover the labour costs incurred during the construction of the temporary bridge.
The Palpa office of the Kaligandaki Corridor Gaindakot-Ramdi-Maldhunga Road Project has stated that a proper bridge design has already been prepared for the site and that a double-lane bridge will be constructed over the river.
Meanwhile, in Gulmi, the Dahare (Lede) River swept away a car.
