Lumbini govt blacktops 165 kilometres of roads in a year

Butwal, Aug. 4: Lumbini provincial government has blacktopped 165 kilometres of roads in one year. 

In the last fiscal year 2024/25, the provincial government constructed 34 kilometres of concrete roads, 167 kilometres of gravel roads, and 123 kilometres of earthen roads.

These achievements have been mentioned in the one-year progress report published by the provincial government under the leadership of Chief Minister Chet Narayan Acharya.

Similarly, 35 motorable bridges and 17 suspension bridges were built in one year, directly benefiting around three million people. 

The progress report also mentions that more than 16,000 people got employment throughout the year.

Chief Minister Acharya informed that a master plan for the provincial road network was prepared and implemented. It includes 15 highways and 582 provincial roads.

The provincial government has informed that it has prioritised road infrastructure. The achievement report of the province mentions that the Rampur–Kapurkot road has been prioritised and implemented as a provincial pride project.

Likewise, the government has achieved significant progress in road upgrading and infrastructure development.

 Lumbini Provincial Hospital in Butwal is being upgraded to a 1,200-bed model hospital of the country, and for that the construction of hospital buildings is progressing rapidly. 

So far, 27 per cent of physical progress has been achieved, and the plan is to fully operate the hospital within five years.

The work is being carried out to complete construction by December 2028 at a cost of approximately Rs. 6.18 billion. 

Chief Minister Acharya said that 27 per cent physical progress within one year of laying the foundation is encouraging.

Similarly, the provincial government has given priority to technical education by establishing and operating a Technical University in Banke, claiming it as one of the key achievements of the year.

Lumbini Technical University has been launched to make Lumbini Province a centre for technical education.

Likewise, the provincial government has developed the Chief Minister Dashboard software system and arranged for farmers to receive daily price lists of major markets through the “Kisan App” on their mobile phones.
