By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, June 5: Three roads, including the Satungal–Chitlang road in Kathmandu, remain fully blocked on Thursday due to increased risks of floods and landslides. Police have also reported that traffic is operating one-way on two other routes.
The BP Highway, which connects the eastern Tarai and hill regions with the federal capital Kathmandu, has also been closed to all traffic, according to a police statement issued on Thursday giving an update of major Highways and local roads.
In Kathmandu’s Chandragiri Municipality–9, Deurali, the Satungal–Chitlang road has been shut as road maintenance work continues. Police said the route will remain closed for one month.
Similarly, the Mid-Hill Highway at Dobhan in Yangwarak Rural Municipality–2 of Panchthar has been fully obstructed due to rising flood risk.
In Rolpa, the Ghorahi–Thawang Martyrs Highway has also been completely closed following landslides.
Meanwhile, following heightened landslide risks, traffic on the Mid-Hill Highway in Sankhuwasabha is currently operating one-way only, while a similar one-way system is in place in Bhojpur, according to the notice.
