By Our Correspondent,Kaski, June 23: Prem BK from Baglung has won the title of the First Gandaki Lok Tara.
The Gandaki Province chapter of the Rastriya Lok Tatha Dohori Geet Pratisthan Nepal organised the competition on Music Day.
BK secured the Lok Tara title by leaving 17 other contestants behind.
As the winner of the First Gandaki Lok Tara, BK received a cash prize of Rs. 51,111.
Shila Gurung from Syangja secured the second position and pocketed Rs. 31,111, while Bijay Pariyar from Myagdi came in third and received Rs. 21,111.
Likewise, Dilip Manandhar from Syangja, who received the consolation prize, was awarded Rs. 11,111.
According to Krishna Subedi, Treasurer of the Academy and coordinator of the Lok Tara programme, the top three winners will also be provided with the opportunity to record songs free of cost.
The title for Best Vocal was awarded to Pawan Singh Pariyar from Gorkha.
The panel of judges included senior singer Durga Rayamajhi as the chief judge, along with members Purushottam Neupane, Pashupati Sharma, Shanti Gurung, and Nawaraj Baral.
The competition was inaugurated by Bindu Kumar Thapa, the Minister for Social Development, Youth, and Sports of Gandaki Province.
A total of 18 contestants, selected through district-level auditions, participated in the event. They went through several stages to reach the final round. Auditions were conducted in nine districts of Gandaki Province, excluding Mustang and Manang.
