Postpartum woman found dead in Kailali, newborn safe

By Nirajan Pariyar, Chaumala (Kailali), June 20: A postpartum woman has been found dead in Gauriganga Municipality of Kailali district.

Police said that 19-year-old Tulsi Nath, of Kailashpur, of Gauriganga Municipality-7 of the district, was found dead near her house on Friday morning.

District Police Office spokesperson and Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rajkumar Singh said that Nath, a newly delivered mother, was found dead and that an investigation into the incident is underway.

He said that a team from the Area Police Office, Malakheti, has reached the spot upon receiving the information.

Chief of Area Police Office, Malakheti, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Ran Bahadur Chand, who reached the spot, said that Nath, who was found dead, was in postpartum pregnancy.

It is reported that the body was found in a drain in front of the main gate of the house, and the crime scene has now been sealed off, and an investigation is underway.

Deceased Nath's 16-day-old newborn baby was found in normal condition. 

Police said that the cause of death is yet to be ascertained.
