Kathmandu, April 21: The Department of Drug Administration (DDA) has issued a directive seeking to withdraw two medicines promptly from the market.

It has sought the prompt removal of the drugs' 'Pilpan 40mg Tablet' and 'Stop 40mg' from the market, citing that they are proven to be substandard.

Both medicines are generally used to reduce the amount of acid in the stomach.

The DDA has urged one and all not to prescribe, supply and use these medicines. The sample tests of the drugs in the National Medicine Laboratory indicated that the drugs failed to meet the set standard.

It has sought the prompt suspension of the supplies of medicines and withdrawal from the market as per Clause 14 of the Drugs Act, 2035 BS (1978). The Clause is about the return of a drug which is not safe for public consumption. (RSS)
