Bagmati Province Defeats Koshi Province by 131 Runs in PM Cup

Kathmandu, Mar. 23: Bagmati Province secured a comfortable 131-run victory over Koshi Province in the Prime Minister's Cup National Men's One-Day Cricket Tournament on Saturday at Deukhuri Cricket Ground in Lamahi, Dang. 

Chasing a target of 241 runs, Koshi was bowled out for 109 runs in 25.3 overs. Ais Bhattarai top-scored for Koshi with 37 runs, while Sujan Thapaliya contributed 25 runs and Firdosh Ansari scored 24. The remaining batsmen failed to reach double figures.

In a standout performance, Bagmati’s Surya Tamang took five wickets for just 27 runs in nine overs, leading his team’s bowling attack. Rijan Dhakal took three wickets, while Sakar Gajurel claimed two.

Earlier, Bagmati, who won the toss and chose to bat first, posted a total of 240 runs in 49.3 overs, losing all their wickets. Shubha Kansakar was the top scorer for Bagmati with 39 runs, followed by opener Ashutosh Ghiraiya with 29 runs. Ishan Pandey and Bipin Acharya both contributed 25 runs, while Rijan Dhakal remained unbeaten on 22. Sonu Devkota made 18 runs, Surya Tamang added 17, and Gautam KC chipped in with 16 runs.

Koshi’s bowlers struggled to contain Bagmati’s innings. Sujan Thapaliya and Prakash Karki each took two wickets, while Gyanendra Shrestha, Dipesh Kandel, and Firdosh Ansari each claimed one wicket.

With this win, Bagmati moves into sixth place with 6 points from seven matches, while Koshi remains at the bottom of the table in 10th place with just 2 points from the same number of games.
