Prime Minister National Talent Award-2081 announced

Kathmandu, Feb 19: The government is going to confer the Prime Minister National Talent Award-2081 to a talented citizen for their outstanding contribution in the field of peace, good governance, innovation, scientific discovery, research and development.     

The award was announced at the main ceremony held at the Army Pavilion, Tundikhel, today on the occasion of National Democracy Day 2081 BS.     

Dr Chhiring Lama (Sindhupalchok) is to be awarded in the field of telemedicine, Dr Birajsinh Thapa (Morang) in the field of Science and Technology Innovation, Purnima Shrestha (Gorkha) in the field of mountaineering and Aabhash Maskey (Kathmandu) and Hariram Shrestha (Gorkha) in the field of Science and Technology.     

Similarly, Dr Om Murti Anil (Mahottari) is to be awarded for medicine, Sabitra Bhandari (Lamjung) for sports, Rabindra Puri (Bhaktapur) for heritage conservation, Dilshova Shrestha (Kathmandu) and Ramji Adhikari (Gorkha) for human service and social service.     

Awards will be presented organizing a special ceremony soon. The decision to establish the award was taken by the Cabinet meeting held on December 3, 2018, for the purpose of encouraging talented citizens in the innovation sector.     

The Prime Minister's National Talent Award Fund was established by adding Rs 10 million from the Government of Nepal to the US $100,000 received by the then Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from the Government of Korea.     

From this fund, it was decided to give a prize of Rs 500 thousand to two talents every year. For the first time in 2019, three awards were given in two categories.     

The awards were not given out after that due to the Covid-19 pandemic.(RSS)
