blog

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 21: The meeting of the House of Representatives (HoR) has been halted for 15 minutes following protest of the opposition parties.

The opposition parties staged protest demanding presence of Prime Minister in the HoR when Speaker Dol Prasad Aryal started to conduct the meeting as per the agenda for today.

When the opposition stood to protest after the end of the special hour in today's meeting, Speaker Aryal allowed time for CPN (UML) lawmaker Yen Bahadur Mahar to speak, and lawmaker Mahar demanded presence of PM Shah in parliament.

He argued that the PM was evading the parliament and that ignoring Rule 56 of the Regulation will make the PM wilful. He demanded that the Speaker ensured PM's presence in the parliament as the Regulation has the provision of questioning the PM directly.

Members of Parliament Aren Rai, from Shram Sanskriti Party, Yubaraj Dulal, from Nepali Communist Party and Khusbu Oli, from Rastriya Prajatantra Party also spoke in the parliament demanding that the PM be present in the parliament.

Despite Speaker Aryal's repeated request for the MPs to sit down and let the meeting forward, the opposition MPs kept standing in protest and then the Speaker announced suspension of the meeting for 15 meeting.
