By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 20: The government and the human rights activist, Rubi Khan, has reached a five point agreement with regard to fair investigation into the case of abduction and murder of Nirmala Kurmi of Banke district.
With the agreement, Khan
has ended her 23-day long hunger strike.
Deepa Dahal, press and investigation
expert to Prime Minister Balendra Shah, offered Khan water to end the hunger
strike.
The government had deployed
a special team to hold dialogue with Khan who was staging hunger strike at
Sanjivani College of Medical Sciences, Nepalgunj, Banke.
The team comprised of Sushil Singh Rathaur,
additional inspector general of Nepal Police, Ananda Kafle, joint secretary and
spokesperson of Home Ministry and Deepa Dahal, press and investigation expert
to PM Shah.
The agreement was signed by Khan and team member,
joint secretary Kafle.
Activist Khan thanked PM Shah and the government representatives
after the agreement.
As per the agreement, the case about Nirmala Kurmi's
abduction, ransom and murder as registered in the Banke district police office
on 2 April 2021 will be moved forward for judicial process after conducting a
detailed study of investigations carried out so far.
The case about disruption of public peace as
registered against Khan in the Banke district police office will be concluded
soon and chief of Banke police and other officials will be investigated for
their roles and punished if found guilty, according to the agreement.
