No compromise in players honor: Sports Minister Pokharel

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 21: Minister of Education and Sports Sasmit Pokharel said that the government has still miles to walk for the development of the sports sector and for the honor of the players. 

Addressing the Farewell Program organized for the Nepal National Women's Football team at the Ministry today, Sports Minister said that the government is working to uplift the morale of the players. 

The National Women's Football team departed from Nepal today to participate in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF). 

He lauded the performance of the women's football team in the international arena. The improvement-oriented performance of the players has elevated the nation’s standing.

Internalizing the fact that the country has not done what it ought to, Minister Pokharel said that the government is always striving for the development of the sports sector and the skill enhancement of the players by utilizing the limited available means and resources. 

Expressing happiness that there is a balanced mix of experienced and new players in the team, Minister Pokharel asked the senior players to guide the younger ones and the new players to learn from the experienced. 

He took a moment to remember the injured players who could not make it in the team and wished for their speedy recovery. 

Minister Pokharel said, "I have internalized the fact that the country has not done what it ought to; however, government is always striving for the development of the sports sector and the skill enhancement of the players by utilizing the limited available means and resources. The improved and laborious performance that you have continued to show in the field is praiseworthy. I believe that the confidence and energy in the room will turn into victory. If you give your best, then you can definitely claim the victory. And, if you return as a champion, I will personally come to receive you all at the airport."
