Locals have torched a tire in front of the Mithila Municipality at Dhalkebar as a protest against the extraction of the gravel from the river.

He said that the increased risk of environmental and human casualties from the extraction has led to the protest.
The Mithila Municipality has given the contract for the extraction of the six rivers of Badahari, Basahi, Aaurahi, Jaladhar, and Ratu River to Nerisha Construction Company Private Limited for Rs 30, 562,273.
