Lumbini, Feb 16: Deputy Prime
Minister and Minister for Urban Development, Prakash Man Singh, has said it is
essential to empower all three tiers of government to enforce federalism
effectively.
The laws are being made to empower
federal, provincial and local levels with rights as per constitution, he
informed. DPM Singh said it while addressing the main celebration function of
the 66th establishment day of Butwal Sub-metropolitan city on Saturday.
DPM Singh reminded that present
government was formed by two big parties- the Nepali Congress and the UML- in
order to ensure political stability. The government is working actively to
assuage despair among people.
He underlined, "The government
is not formed for mere exercise of power, but for political stability and
economic prosperity. We're working for economic prosperity." Economic
progress and development works are not realized unless country achieves
political stability, the DPM argued.
Similarly, he urged the concerned
stakeholders to come up with special plan for long term development of Butwal.
The city is relatively developed and vibrant, which would be further reinforced
with the operation of the Gautam Buddha International Airport. A religious
circuit linking Lumbini to Muktinath could be developed for tourism promotion,
he suggested.
On the occasion, a former minister
in Lumbini Province, Bhoj Prasad Shrestha, viewed all sides' cooperation was
essential for development of Butwal. The government was making efforts to
resolve problems facing landless squatters by making laws, he shared. (RSS)
