Two arrested for fraudulent foreign employment schemes

Kathmandu, Jan.17: Two people have been arrested for cheating people by promising foreign employment with lucrative salaries. 

According to the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office, police have arrested 23-year-old Sanjita Gurung of Bandipur Rural Municipality-2, Tanahun and currently living at Kathmandu Metropolitan City-26 and 50-year-old Resham Raj Lamichhane of Bhimad Municipality-1, Tanahun and currently living at Bouddha, Kathmandu Metropolitan City-6 who was cheating people with fake promises of foreign employment with lucrative salaries. 

Both Gurung and Lamichhane have been detailed of fraud. Gurung deceived two victims into paying Rs 6 million promising them to send them to the United Kingdom while 11 victims into paying Rs 2.4 million promising them to send them to Dubai.

They became contactless with the victims following the monetary transaction. 

A team of police from the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office deployed at Teku after the victims filed complaints, Gurung was arrested from New Road in Kathmandu on Wednesday, and Lamichhane was arrested from Bouddha on Wednesday.

He is sent to the Department of Foreign Employment in Tahachal, Kathmandu, for further investigation and action.
