Kathmandu, Nov.21: The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP0 is going to forward the supporting hands to Nepal on climate action.
Marcos Neto, UN Assistant Secretary-General and Director of UNDP's Bureau for Policy and Programme Support has shown commitment to support Nepal in climate issues in a bilateral meeting held in Baku, Azerbaijan between the delegation of the Nepalese government participating in the 9th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP29), and the team of the United Nations Development Programme.
A team led by Dr Dipak Kumar Kharal, Secretary of the Ministry of Forests and Environment, participated in the bilateral meeting held at the Climate Conference Center on behalf of Nepal.
Reviewing the program conducted by UNDP in Nepal, Secretary Kharel said that there was a discussion regarding the special program to be initiated in Nepal in the future.
According to the Country Representative of UNDP Dipak KC, in a bilateral meeting, Neto pledged that UNDP will support a program to formulate Nationally Determined Contributions (NDC 3) and implementation planning.
He has pledged to cooperate with the Government of Nepal as the areas including climate adaptation work, damage reduction and carbon trade under Article 6 of the Paris Agreement are priority areas of UNDP.
