Kathmandu, Nov 15: The 53rd meeting of the National Development Problems Resolution Committee is now in progress at the Office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers in Singha Durbar.
The meeting is discussing the status of the overall economic indicators, the progress of the existing projects, problems and the ways of resolving them.
Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is chairing the meeting which has 15 agenda items, including deliberation on the national pride projects, their existing problems, the cause of the problems and ways of resolving them.
The other agendas include governance reforms, the use of forest area for the projects of national priority, the project bank, the district rate for public procurement, operation of child reform homes and the campaign of making the nation free of street children, the construction of government buildings at the federal, provincial and local levels, the equalization grants, the implementation plan of the 16th Plan, the multi-year contract management for projects, the electricity tariff collection by-laws, compulsory and free education, internship in public service, construction of disaster resilient infrastructures, post-disaster reconstruction and rehabilitation.
In the meeting, National Planning Commission (NPC) Vice-Chairman Prof Dr Shiva Raj Adhikari made a presentation on the status and trend of macroeconomic indicators, the condition of the government's public finance mobilization, the economic and social progress situation post federalism till the current fiscal year, the overall economic status of the provinces, the progress of the current fiscal year, the implementation of the decisions of the Committee's three meetings before this, among other topics.
Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel, ministers, the Chief Ministers of the provincial governments, the Prime Minister's Chief Advisor, the Chief Secretary, the Chief of the Army Staff, and provincial government secretaries among other officials are present in the meeting.(RSS)
