Contract period expires, yet no works to construct motorable bridge

blog

Manma (Kalikot), April 21: No works have begun for constructing a motorable bridge even after the passage of one year since the expiry of contract period.

Construction of a motorable bridge was planned to link Palanta and Pachaljharana rural municipalities of remote Kalikot district to the national road network. After getting approval from the Koshi Province government, the Physical Infrastructure and Development Office had signed a contract for the undertaking.

Worryingly, a year passed since the expiry of contract period, but no works initiated except making a ditch. Shree Hirachan-Caravan Superstar JV of Kathmandu was contracted on September 29, 2020 for motorable road construction.

As per agreement, the company had to make ready the transport infrastructure before April 7, 2025.

In response to a query relating to the non-implementation of contract, Office Chief Prabhakar Singh blamed solely to the contractor. Instead, he said they were bound to extend the contract period till mid July 2027.(RSS)
