Texas, USA, Nov 8: The Chhath festival was celebrated with fanfare by offering curd to the setting sun in various States of the USA.
The Madhesi community of Nepali origin in Texas marked the Chhath festival with merriment. The Chhath festival, which started on Thursday evening by offering arghya (various offerings including curd) to the setting sun, will end on Friday morning (local time) by offering arghya to the rising sun, according to Dr Sangeet Rauniyar, President of Madhesi Association in USA.
Arrangements were made for the Nepali community at Dallas-Fort area of Texas to celebrate the festival near the pond of Denton. Organizations related to the Madhesi community in Texas and the leaders of the Madhesi community extended support to manage the festival gatherings.
Dr. Rauniyar said the Madhesi community in Dallas-Fort Worth had a sizable presence in Denton.
The festival was also observed in Austin, California, Philadelphia, Florida, Atlanta, New York.(RSS)
