Humanitarian aid distributed to flood victims in Sunsari

By Jaykrishna Yadav,Inarwa, Oct. 5: A delegation from the UAE Red Crescent has distributed humanitarian aid to the people affected by floods from various rivers in Sunsari. 

The UAE Red Crescent has implemented the humanitarian project with the assistance and coordination of the UAE Embassy in Kathmandu and relevant authorities. 

Samir Khan, a local supporter, informed that the UAE Ambassador to Nepal, Abdullah Al Shamsi, distributed food relief on behalf of the UAE government. 

Relief materials have been distributed to 5,300 families, including those affected by river erosion and floods in Marik village of Inarwa Municipality-4, along with families in Jamuwa in Koshi Rural Municipality, Chhita in Gadhi Rural Municipality and Sataujhora.

The UAE government has said it would continue to assist in times of natural disasters and at other times in Nepal. 

Coordinator Rajkumari Chaudhary said that the UAE government had consistently supported the Nepali people during emergencies. Locals expressed their gratitude for the relief distribution and wished for the longevity of the ongoing friendship between the UAE and Nepal.

Relief materials have been distributed to various flood-affected families, including marginalised groups, Dalits, the poor and squatters.

Meanwhile, the organisation has reported that throughout September, around 20,000 food packages, 7,300 medical kits and 4,236 tents were distributed based on the needs of affected families in different villages across Kailali, Kanchanpur, Banke, Bardiya, Kapilvastu, Morang, Sunsari, Saptari and Mahottari districts.

The UAE Embassy said that the distributed relief materials were of the first phase, and they were likely to distribute the relief materials in the second phase as well.
