Suman Barsha’s 'Abhyantar' launched

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 5: Author Suman Barsha has come up with a collection of short stories titled 'Abhyantar' in Nepali.

Writers Dr. Abhi Subedi, Gyanu Pandey, Nayanraj Pandey, professors Jagat Timilsina and Binod Chandra Panta and publisher Pushparaj Poudel jointly launched the anthology amid a presence of literary figures in the capital on Thursday. 

Dr. Subedi hailed the art of Barsha's storytelling, highlighting its uniqueness and new themes. 

"Though they seem simple at first glance," Dr. Subedi stated, "She has written from different perspectives and styles, demonstrating a high degree of authorial freedom".

He mentioned that her stories exhibit influence from western storytelling. 

Dr. Gyanu Pandey opined that Suman Barsha's stories portray the realities of society by addressing various societal issues. Barsha's stories provide a good depiction of society, she said.  "Writers are the psychotherapists of society. They expose the inner wounds of society through literature and show paths for healing."

Nayanraj Pandey shared his reading reflections on Barsha's collection, mentioning that some of her stories present diverse themes and styles. 

"Barsha is a courageous storyteller who effortlessly depicts various subjects and narratives in her works," he said. At the programme organised by Shikha Books, other speakers including Jagat Timilsina, Binod Chandra Pant, Dr. Somika Basnet and Ranjana Niraula also shared their views on the book. 

Author Suman Barsha shared the inspirations and influences behind the stories in her collection. Published by Shikha Books, the book has 18 stories of miscellaneous flavours.

The collection includes many issues such as social anomalies, science fiction, environmental themes, robotic tales and others. The book costs Rs. 450.

 A teacher of English literature, Barsha had two novels to her credit before this.
