BY OUR CORRESPONDENT,Mugu, Sept. 24: Commuters have faced difficulties as landslides have occurred at various locations along the Mugu district's Gamgadhi–Soru road section. The rainfall has caused landslides from Phuli to Aansidhara, blocking the road.
In the western region of the district, the road connecting Gamgadhi market to Soru Rural Municipality-8 has been obstructed by landslides from various points along the upper part of the road from Phuli to Aansidhara. Driver Dalbahadur Rokaya said that the landslides had made travel difficult. He said, “After the rainfall, the landslides have blocked the road, making it difficult for vehicles to travel directly from Gamgadhi to Sorukot.”
Due to the landslides, only the road from Gamgadhi to Phuli in Chhayanath Rara Municipality-3 is operational. Passengers have to walk for an hour from that location to catch another vehicle at Aansidhara in Soru Rural Municipality-8. Dan Bahadur Rokaya, a local, said that if the relevant authorities quickly initiated road repairs from Phuli to Aansidhara, it would make travel much easier. He said, “Travellers on the Gamgadhi–Soru local road have had to pay a one-way fare of Rs. 1,500 for two vehicle rides.”
Vice Chairman of Soru Rural Municipality, Keshar Jung Shahi, said that efforts were being made to open the blocked road section as soon as possible. The district administration office had set the fare at Rs. 600 from Gamgadhi to Tarapani and Rs. 1,200 to Sorukot.
