‘Govt working to accelerate economic activities’

By Our Correspondent,Bhairahawa, Sept. 17: Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel has said that the private sector is excited after the formation of the new government. 

Inaugurating the 71st annual general meeting of the Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rupandehi, on Monday, DPM Paudel said that there had been signs of improvement in the economy in recent weeks. 

He expressed his confidence that a strong government consisting of two major parties in the parliament would complete the remaining term.

Stating that the government would move forward by solving the problems of the people, he urged industrialists to invest with hope and confidence.

 “After the formation of this government, people have become enthusiastic. The present government will complete the remaining term and will solve the problems of businessmen to accelerate the economic activities in the country,” he said.

DPM Paudel said that there was a challenge in development and prosperity due to the absence of a stable government in the country and now the two big parties in the Parliament, Nepali Congress and UML, have come together for stability, development and prosperity.

Stating that political instability is an obstacle to prosperity, he said that the government was trying to move ahead with the development of the Motipur Industrial Zone by addressing the existing problems.

Admitting that there has been some delay in the construction of the Motipur Industrial Zone, he expressed his determination to build it anyway.

A breakthrough will be made in the under-construction tunnel at Siddhababa of Butwal-Palpa road under  the Siddhartha Highway soon, he said, adding that Butwal would get a more beautiful look after constructing the Tinau signature bridge on the East-West Highway and upgrading the Butwal-Dang Road and Chauraha-Golpark Road of Butwal.

On the occasion, President of the Federation of Nepalese Chambers of Commerce and Industry Chandra Prasad Dhakal said that investors were not yet confident because the government was unable to provide policy stability. He said that among the seven provinces, Lumbini Province has the most potential in terms of investment.

Dhakal urged the government to remove legal difficulties and hassles to attract investment in the country. President of Butwal Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Rupandehi Hari Prasad Aryal highlighted the problems of businessmen and asked the government to create an investment-friendly environment in the country.
