Govt curbing trend of taking double facilities

blog

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, May 6: The government has taken initiative to end the trend of taking double and unlimited facilities from the state coffer.

The office of the Prime Minister and Council of Ministers (OPMCM) has directed the Home Ministry to provide within today the exact details of the vehicles being used by former VIP officials.

The OPMCM demanded clear details from Home Ministry on Tuesday evening after its study found that some former VIP officials were taking more vehicles than determined by law or taking double facilities from different agencies.

Details of facilities being taken by former Presidents, former Vice Presidents, former Chief Justices, former Speakers and former Chairmen of National Assembly have been asked.

Deepa Dahal, press and research expert to PM Balendra Shah, said that the government asked for details with a view to strictly curb the misuse of state coffer and maintain good governance.

She viewed that the move was for making the system transparent by identifying facilities being taken beyond mandated by law.

Processes will be initiated to take back extra vehicles and other facilities being used by former officials against existing law.
