Yoga demonstrated on anniversary

By A Staff Reporter,Bhaktapur, Aug. 27: The 18th anniversary of Shuvakamana Community Yoga Centre was marked with many events including a Yoga demonstration, practice and local dance at Shubhakamana Party Palace in Suryabinayak, Bhaktapur on Saturday.

Minister for Health of Bagmati Province and member of Bagmati Province Assembly Kiran Thapa inaugurated the event amid the presence of a large number of Yoga practitioners.

The Centre was established in August 2007 in Bhaktapur in the initiative of Yoga guru Balmukunda Suwal in association with Shuvakamana Party Palace, Shuvakamana Savings and Loan Cooperatives Group and Samuhik Savings and Loan Cooperatives Group. 

Province Minister Thapa opined that the Yoga practice has a great role in lengthening the average age of Nepalis from 68 to 73 years. 'Different Yoga groups have played a great role in this connection,' he said, lauding the role played by Shuvakamana Community Yoga Centre.  

Chairman of Patanjal Yoga Committee Nepal Bal Mukunda Suwal recalled the past days while the Centre was established. Suwal initiated to establishment Nepal-based Patanjal Yoga Committee in 2018. According to him, Patanjal has its Yoga centres in seven provinces and 33 districts.
