By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, May .1: The Department of Money Laundering Investigation (DoMLI) has sought details of the promoter shareholders of companies associated with businessman Dipak Bhatta, who is currently in police custody for investigation.
Issuing a public notice, the Department has requested the submission of information relating to individuals who purchased promoter shares in various companies linked to Bhatta. It stated that the details are required for study purposes as part of an ongoing investigation.
According to the notice, information has been sought from individuals who acquired promoter shares during the establishment phase of companies including Nepal Micro Insurance Company Limited, Guardian Micro Life Insurance, Crest Micro Life Insurance, Liberty Micro Life Insurance, Protective Insurance Company, Star Micro Insurance Company, Trust Micro Insurance Company, and Himalayan Reinsurance Company.
The Department said that, during the process of obtaining approval from the Insurance Authority, it requires details of amounts deposited as premiums, beyond the paid-up capital, into bank accounts of various individuals or institutions by those purchasing founder shares.
The notice calls for clear disclosure of ‘the amount deposited, in whose name, and in which bank and financial institution account’ the funds were held.
The Department has instructed concerned individuals to appear at its office or submit the required documents within 15 days from the date of publication of the notice.
