By A Staff Reporter, Kathmandu, May.1: Top Tribhuvan University officials, including Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal, Rector Khadga KC, and Registrar Kedar Prasad Rijal, have resigned jointly.
Issuing a resignation letter, Prof. Dr. Deepak Aryal, Khadga KC, and Kedar Prasad Rijal have stated that they have resigned aiming to help create a comfortable environment for the new government work.
According to Rector KC, since they are professors who are active in the classroom, the decision has been taken to step down from administrative responsibilities and ease the transition to the new government.
The decision was made following the recently recommended ordinance, including a provision that allows the removal of university officials. It was also expected that if the resignation wasn’t made, the Balendra Shah-led government might annul the appointment of senior officials at the TU.
TU Senior officials KC and Rijal were appointed on merit basis when Pushpa Kamal Dahal was the Prime Minister, while Aryal was appointed during the KP Sharma Oli-led government.
Meanwhile, the new government has come up with a strategy to eliminate the ongoing party-based political influence in the education sector. On the same basis, the government had earlier asked those who had taken political appointments based on party affiliation to resign.
