Minister Bhattarai emphasizes debate on Nepal's education system

Tribeni (Nawalparasi), Aug 24: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Bidhya Bhattarai has called for debate and discourse on education system of the country, stating that it had vital role in shaping political landscape and societal awareness.     

Addressing the launch of 'Hamro Khusi Pathyakram (Our Happy Curriculum)' initiated by Madhyabindu Municipality of Nawalparashi (Bardaghat Susta East) today, Minister Bhattarai spoke of the need for shift from political discourses to critical debate on education.     

"Our discussions, struggle and movements have long centered around political issues. It's high time we shift our attention towards improvement of education system," the Minister argued.     

She underscored the importance and influence of education and awareness in developing leadership and cultures and thus emphasized everyone's serious attention towards development of education sector.     

 "Although politics influences leaderships, it is education and cultures that shape our society. They define our culture and political landscape. Hence, a serious debate on education is essential."     

Lauding the initiatives of Madhyabindu municipality, Minister Bhattarai expected that the initiatives would address the growing frustrations and dissatisfaction by promoting happiness through new curriculum.     

Similarly, Mayor of Madhyabindu municipality Bhimlal Adhikari shared that the curriculum designed by the Municipality will be introduced to 66 public and private schools within the Municipality.     

The new curriculum will be implemented from grade 1 to 8, shared Mayor Adhikari, adding that the new curriculum is expected to promote welfare of students as well as to foster well-rounded development, good mental well-being among students and sustainable development of society.(RSS)
