Thame flood due to two glacial lakes outbursts

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Aug 17: It has been proved that the massive flood in the Thame and Dudhkoshi rivers on Friday was due to the two glacial lake outbursts in the Khumbu region of Solukhumbu. 

A study team led by defence minister Man Bir Rai reached the glacial lake areas of the Khumbu said that the Friday flood was due to the two lakes outburst.

The team reached Khumbu region on Saturday via helicopter. 

Chief District Officer of the Solukhumbu Devi Pande said, "There are five lakes, out of them Two were burst off Friday. Two more are at the risk of brust whereas one is in normal estate." 

A massive flood was observed at the Thame region of the Solukhumbu on Friday afternoon.
