By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Aug. 8: Emerging poet Juman Kiran has published her debut collection of Ghazals titled 'Maun Aawaj'.
Published by Mahalaxmi Literature Society, the book has 86 Ghazals of miscellaneous flavours.
It is said that Ghazal was originally written on the theme of love and infatuation. Now the concept has been changed. The theme of the Ghazals has been unlimited. Nowadays, it focuses mainly on socio-political anomalies. Ghazals by Juman Kiran are examples of that sort. She writes in a Ghazal-
The rose, symbol of love, is being sold
The justice of the court is being sold
Medicines are not available hither
Poison and alcohol are being sold
(Translated from Nepali)
In another Ghazal, she vents up her despair that she does not feel herself as fortunate since life is not like a life. In the ninth Ghazal of the book, she writes-
I hear only 'No'
When he answers me
I get only a loss
When life bars me
(Translated from Nepali)
Poet and chairman of Jyoti Sahitya Academy Maniraj Singh finds profound aesthetics in her writing. “She is one of the impressive Ghazalists of the new generation,” he writes in his preface.
A resident of Mahalaxmi Municipality, Lalitpur, she is the treasurer of Mahalaxmi Literature Society and secretary of the World Nepali Literature Federation, Lalitpur. Many of her Ghazals, Muktaks and poems are published in different media.
