Upreti's 'Jaba Hami Kura Garchhaun' released

BY A STAFF REPORTER,Kathmandu, July 22: Essayist Bhisma Upreti has come up with a new collection of essays titled ‘Jaba Hami Kura Garchhaun’ (When We Talk) in Nepali. Poet Manjul, critic duo Gyanu Pandey and Bidhan Acharya, publisher of the book Pushparaj Paudel and essayist Upreti himself jointly released the book in the presence of literary figures at Dhumbarai, Kathmandu, on Saturday.

Poet Manjul hailed Upreti's poetry as well as his essays.  "He was born to write poetry but started writing prose as well," he said, "It is good news for readers."

Critic Pandey said that Upreti's essays were full of thoughts, imagination and philosophy. 

"His writing makes the readers enjoy", she pointed out, "It is conscious of conserving the environment as well."

Critic Acharya asserted that Upreti's essays inspired the readers to know themselves. "His essays have poetic flavour and poetry has essay flavour," he said.

Essayist Upreti said that writers should be responsible to their words. "I am sure that my writing is always responsible to my own words," he added, "I will be a successful writer if my writing creates a vibration among readers."  Other speakers including Pushparaj Paudel and Chhatra Karki expressed their views on the book.

Published by Shikha Books Kathmandu, the book consists of 17 essays of miscellaneous flavours. The 136-page book is cost at Rs. 295. Born in Jhapa in 2024 BS, Upreti has 22 works of different genres.

 His books are translated into English, Hindi, Persian, Japanese, Sinhalese and Serbian. 

Likewise, he has been honoured with many awards including ‘SAARC Literature Award’, ‘Gopal Prasad Rimal National Poetry Award’, ‘Yuwa Barsa Moti Award’, ‘Shankar Lamichhane Youth Essay Award’, ‘Sasidhi National Kalashree Youth Award’, ‘Uttam Shanti Award’ and others.
