My Reading Adventures

blog

When I was in Nepal, I remember a book called “Brown Bear.” Our home in Kathmandu had hundreds of books. I do not remember all of them. There were very nice and I see “Brown Bear” and many other books that I had there in the libraries of Newark and Chesapeake Beach and book shops in America.

When we were living in an apartment in Pike Creek, Newark, we went to the library by a bus. The libraries were very interesting as they had DVD films, play areas, games, computers, and garden areas.

I am reading a lot of books now. I have read almost a thousand books. My dad told me that he has been counting. I love reading because I get to study and have fun at the same time.

When we first moved to the US, we started to go to libraries to get books to read and also bought books. Dolly Patron program sent me free books until I was four and I now have my own small library at home. I read the books here with my dad and my sister Vidheha. Sometimes I read with my mum. I can also read by myself.

I still share my mornings with my sisters in Nepal, Anita and Shila, and I read books with them online, study science, and practice my spellings every day. Today I read, “Journey to Pluto,” with Anita didi. I have to finish the last five pages with her.

I really liked  ”All About May.” May has a really messy family. They make pancakes and their big furry dog gets excited and spills everything. The children polish their dad’s nails while he is sleeping. It is raining and they play in the mud. In the bath, they make so many bubbles in the water. After bedtime, they went down and made a fort! They read and hugged.

I read books and I watch movies and documentaries based on the books. Dr Suess series, Paddington, Peter Rabbit, Secret Garden, and other books have been made into movies! It is fun reading books and looking at the movies based on them.

Everyone should read books. Story telling helps young children. They help parents. Once a child becomes three, they can start reading a little bit and by five they can read on their own. Brothers and sisters should also read together. Books, libraries, good movies help bring everyone together.
