Kathmandu, May 15: Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda' and Speaker of the House of Representatives (HoR) Devraj Ghimire held a meeting today to end the deadlock surfaced in both the House of the federal parliament.
At a discussion held at the Prime
Minister's residence, Baluwatar, Speaker Ghimire said that the continued
obstruction taking place in the context when the bills tabled have not been
endorsed has spread mistrust among the public to the parliament, the Speaker's
secretariat shared.
During the meeting, Speaker Ghimire
urged Prime Minister Prachanda to immediately forge consensus with the main
opposition party when the motion of thanks to President Ramchandra Paudel for
presenting the government's policies and programmes was not passed in the
House.
If the parliamentary proceedings
move ahead, some bills can be immediately passed and some others be sent to
the committees, the Speaker briefed.
According to the secretariat, PM
Prachanda informed the Speaker that a meeting of the top leaders of ruling parties
has been set for today which he said would create an environment to ensure a smooth
parliamentary proceeding scheduled for Thursday. (RSS)
