UML's Hikmat Karki stakes claim for Koshi CM

By Sashidhar Parajuli, Biratnagar, May 9: UML Parliamentary Party leader of Koshi Province Hikmat Karki has staked a claim for the post of the Chief Minister of the Province.

He claimed the CM post after receiving support from 52 members of the Provincial Assembly from UML and CPN (Maoist Centre) as per Article 168(5) of the Constitution of Nepal.

Chief of the Koshi Province Parshuram Khapung has set a deadline of 5 PM till Friday for the formation of the new government, by issuing a press release.

The process proceeded as the Province’s head was requested to form a new government with an information letter mentioning that 30 days passed since 52 MPs withdrew their support from the government, and the incumbent CM has yet to take the vote of confidence.
