By Our Correspondents,Makwanpur/Surkhet,Apr. 1: Shalikram Jamkattel, Chief Minister of the Bagmati Province government, is poised to seek a vote of confidence on Monday.
Following a coalition shift and the withdrawal of support from the Nepali Congress, the Jamkattel-led government has fallen in the minority, prompting him to seek vote of confidence.
Bagmati Provincial Assembly Secretary Krishna Bahadur Khadka announced that the session is scheduled for 1 pm Monday as per the correspondence received at the secretariat of the provincial assembly.
Similarly, Rajkumar Sharma, the Chief Minister of the Karnali Province government, is scheduled to seek a vote of confidence.
Chief Minister Sharma has formally notified the Provincial Secretariat about the confidence vote, set to take place on Tuesday.
Karnali Provincial Assembly Secretary Jivraj Budhathoki confirmed the receipt of the letter at the Secretariat of the Provincial Assembly at 10 am on Sunday.
Following a change in the political landscape at the centre, the support extended by Congress to the Karnali government was withdrawn on March 5.
Although there are indications of a nearing agreement on the UML's role in Karnali as per discussions at the centre, Chief Minister Sharma, led by the Maoists, has affirmed ongoing efforts to secure the vote of confidence without compromising his stance.
According to the constitutional mandate, a party participating in the government must secure a vote of confidence from the assembly within 30 days of losing support of one or more parties.
