By TRN Online, Kathmandu, March 16: The Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Development has provided Rs 300 million to the Dairy Development Corporation (DDC) to pay the farmers.
The ministry provided it as a concessional loan to pay the dairy farmers which was due in the last 5 months.
Agriculture and Livestock Development Minister Jwala Kumari Sah's Personal Secretary Rabin Patel said that the amounts were provided to DDC to pay farmers in the special initiation of the minister.
The minister discussed with Finance Minister Barsha Man Pun on Friday the challenges that existed in the agriculture sector.
DDC has arrears of farmers of Rs 1 billion.
General Manager of DDC Sanjeev Jha said that payment of the farmers will be paid from Rs 300 million. The loan will be repaid from the reserve accumulated from the sales.
Also, the ministry provided Rs 480 million in financial aid to livestock insurance through the insurance authority.
