Paleti hosts Pawan Gole

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Apr. 27: A musical programme, Paleti, was held on Friday and Saturday, featuring Darjeeling-based singer and composer Pawan Gole and composer Ramesh Gurung.

In this edition of Paleti, singer Pawan Gole performed 16 songs, both old and new. The programme showcased compositions by various music directors, with eight of the songs featuring solo compositions by Ramesh Gurung.

During the event, Gole recalled that it had been 14 years since he first performed at Paleti. Composer Ramesh Gurung also noted that he had participated in the programme 20 years ago.

The evening began with the poem and lyrics ‘Mato Matra Desh Haina’ by poet and lyricist Dinesh Adhikari. As usual, the programme was hosted by Paleti coordinator and singer-composer Abhas.

The event concluded with Pawan Gole’s popular song ‘Hawa Sangai Bagu Bhanchha’, composed by Subarna Limbu and written by senior lyricist Shivshankar Thapa. It was also announced that Thapa will be invited to the next edition of Paleti. Thapa is a well-known early collaborator of legendary singer Deep Shrestha and has penned many popular songs.

The instrumental accompaniment for this edition of Paleti featured Ramesh Gurung on harmonium, Sunil Singh Nepali on keyboard, Milan Ghimire on flute, Milesh Tandukar and Sundar Kumar Maharjan on percussion, Prabin Pulami Magar on rhythm guitar, and Kripesh Lohani on bass guitar.
