Int'l art exhibition, Plein Air workshop from March 15

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 14: An international art exhibition and Plein Air workshop titled ‘Kalashala,’ featuring national and international artists from various fine arts disciplines will begin on March 15.

 Organising a press conference in Kathmandu on Wednesday, Anita Bhattarai, president of Aakar Art Centre, announced the completion of arrangements for the week-long art workshop and exhibition.

 Organised by In Art World in coordination with Akar Art Centre, and Nepal German Chamber of Commerce and Industries, the workshop will feature 120 artists from Nepal, India, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Bangladesh, Iran and Taiwan (China), informed Bhattarai.

Artist Bhattarai pledged to donate 50 per cent of the proceeds from the sale of artworks, including sculptures, handicrafts, paintings, printmaking, and digital art, to Safalta HIV Sikshya Sadan to support HIV-infected children’s education. 

 Santosh Chandra Kunwar, President of Nepal German Chamber of Commerce and Industry, expressed support for the commercial promotion of fine arts creations, emphasising the importance of fostering a culture of collecting art in Nepal to sustain and enrich the local art scene.

 Ramkumar Pun, President of Baby Home, which provides care for HIV-infected children, welcomed the financial support from Kalashala, emphasising its significance in enabling infected children to access education and support services.

During the event, the participants will have an opportunity to explore cultural and heritage sites such as Pashupatinath Temple area, Patan Durbar Square and Nepal Academy of Fine Arts.

 The programme will include art workshops conducted by established artists, exhibitions showcasing diverse artworks, and engagement opportunities for students, emerging artists and art enthusiasts, said Bhattarai.
