By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 13: The first poster of the film ‘The Red Suitcase’ which is scheduled to be released on April 12, was unveiled on Tuesday. The poster features prominent actors Saugat Malla, Bipin Karki and actress Shristi Shrestha.
The poster depicts a hilly area with the highway as its backdrop. Shristi Shrestha portrays a village woman while Saugat Malla and Bipin Karki appear as working-class youth in the poster.
The focus lies on character portrayal rather than emphasising the artists’ beauty in the released poster. Prabin Khatiwada plays a lead role in the film.
Directed by Fidel Devkota, ‘The Red Suitcase’ was premiered at the Venice Film Festival last September and won two prestigious awards.
It has also been selected for screenings at renowned international film festivals such as International Film Festival Mannheim-Heidelberg in Germany, Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland and Mumbai Film Festival in India.
Director Fidel said that the movie is a contemporary narrative reflecting the lives of Nepali youth from middle and lower-class backgrounds, interwoven with elements of myth, immigrant tradition and Nepal’s destiny.
Produced by Ramakrishna Pokharel, known for the previous film ‘Aina Jhyalko Putali’, ‘The Red Suitcase’ is based on an original story, similar to ‘Aina Jhyalko Putali’.
Technical work for the film was carried out in Sri Lanka, with Shova Thapa as the producer and Bimukti Jayasundara as co-producer.
Cinematography of the film is done by Sushan Prajapati while Saman Alvitigala handled the editing.
