Narayan Prasad Dahal elected National Assembly Chair

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar 12: CPN (Maoist Centre)'s Narayan Prasad Dahal has been elected the Chairperson of the National Assembly.

'Dahal received 39 votes which became the majority of the NA members present in the assembly so Dahal has been elected the chair of NA' declared by NA Vice Chair Urmila Aryal, after the voting process on Tuesday.

17 votes were cast against him out of a total of 56 members of NA. 

Dahal's competitor Yubaraj Sharma of NC received only 17 votes in favor. 39 votes were cast against him.

Dahal's candidacy was proposed by a key figure within his party, Gopi Bahadur Achhami, and supported by Devendra Dahal from CPN (UML), Beduram Bhusal from CPN (Unified Socialists) and Mohammad Khalid from Janata Samajwadi Party.
