Nepathya performing in Ilam on March 3

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 11: Folk rock band Nepathya is set to perform in Sallaghari Pakha, Karphok of Suryodaya Municipality, Ilam, on March 3.

The band is performing on the premises of Karphok Bidya Mandir, one of oldest and largest schools in Ilam. 

According to a press release issued by Nepalaya, Saturday’s concert is being organised to support the construction of Nyupi Tharpa Choling Monastery in Ilam.

This monastery is being constructed in Gadhithumka of Ilam Municipality-6. 

The construction of a three-story monastery will be completed by 2083 BS. The monastery will have an assembly hall, a prayer hall, a storehouse, and guest rooms, as mentioned in the press release. 

The band has organised approximately 120 concerts in Nepal and has given over 80 musical performances in 41 main cities across 17 countries outside Nepal. 

Amrit Gurung, the lead singer from Nepathya, said, “The desire to perform in this attractive part of the eastern hills, surrounded by tea gardens and forests, has been there for a long time. I am very happy that this time my friends from Ilam have joined us.” 

Hari Gurung, chairman of the monastery’s construction committee, said, “On one hand, the concert will provide funds for our religious heritage. On the other hand, we believe that tourism can be developed in Ilam through music.”

The ticket price for the concert is Rs. 1,100.

In the concert, lead singer Amrit will be assisted by Dhruv Lama on the drum set, Subin Shakya on the bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on the guitar, Shanti Rayamajhi on the Madal, and Dineshraj Regmi on the keyboard.
