Mitrakunj marks International Women's Day

By TRN Online, Kathmandu, Mar 8: The Mitrakunj celebrated the 114th International Women's Day highlighting the slogan, ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate the Progress’, to honor women at the Russian House in Kathmandu today.

According to the press note issued by Mitrakunj, International Women's Day was graced by the scholar. The programme was chaired by Engineer Mahesh Prasad Pandey and the Chief Guest was Alina Varisovna Novikova, the first lady of the Russian Embassy. The master of ceremonies was engineer Hari Prasad Sharma. 

Chief guest Alina Novikova said that women are not only coordinating the society and home but are capable in a leadership role. 

Mitrakunj, an organization of scholars who have achieved higher education in the former Soviet Union, held the function in association with the Russian House in Kathmandu.

One of the oldest alumni organizations in Nepal, Mitrakunj was established about 57 years ago and has been organizing such programmes ever since.
