Nepal Chamber Expo 2024 opens

By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Mar. 8: The 7th edition of 'Nepal Chamber Expo 2024' kicked off at Bhrikutimandap Exhibition Centre, Kathmandu on Thursday. Nepal Chamber of Commerce organised the five-day expo to promote and market local products and increase businesses. 

Newly appointed Minister of Labour, Employment and Social Security Dol Prasad Aryal, inaugurated the expo amidst a function.

At the expo, agricultural products, goods of small and domestic industries, and handicrafts are displayed. 

The materials relating to real estate, food and beverages, clothing, textbooks, books, vehicles, construction materials, electrical equipment and other consumables are also exhibited in the trade fair.

Inaugurating the expo, Minister Aryal said that the government was sensitive to the latest state of the economy. 

He said that the role of the private sector was important in the economic development of the country.

NCC president Rajendra Malla said that the expo was organised to keep the economy running and expand business activities amid difficult economic conditions.

He said, "The country's economy is progressing slowly. The investment environment has not been created encouraging the private sector to increase their investment. We expect some increase in economic activity from this expo."

President Malla said that the expo was organised to promote the market of locally produced goods, including agriculture items and handicrafts and to expand the economic activities of small businessmen.

He also emphasised that the return process of the foreign goods placed in the expo should be eased.

The direct participation of the regional and international business community will help to closely observe the economic activities taking place in the international arena, the use of new technologies and the new dimensions of business management, he said.

The expo which was organised in the collaboration with Trade and Export Promotion Centre under the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supplies has more than 160 stalls of national and international companies.

Traders from Nepal, India, South Korea, Bangladesh and Pakistan have participated in the expo, which will continue till Monday.
