Students learning to play Naumati Baja at school

By Our Correspondent,Gulmi, Mar. 7: Resunga Secondary School in Tamghas, Gulmi, has initiated training sessions for students willing to learn to play Naumati Baja.

Headmaster Bhagirath Bhandari said that  Resunga Municipality’s financial support facilitated the endeavour to integrate students into cultural learning experiences. Under  Bhandari’s supervision, 36 students will undergo training in three phases, each accommodating 12 students from various grades. 

The objective is to foster skill development alongside academic pursuits, potentially translating these skills into future income opportunities, added the Headmaster. Bhandari further emphasised that the students' enthusiasm for the training could help preserve and revive the fading tradition of playing Naumati Baja.

He highlighted the school’s strategic approach to enhancing students’ learning outcomes and acknowledged the collaborative efforts of the teaching staff. The teachers at Resunga Secondary School demonstrate dedication to their profession, incorporating technology into teaching methods and actively engaging in school activities. 

The school, offering education from early childhood to grade 12, emphasises technical-oriented civil engineering courses from grade 9 onwards, while science and management subjects are taught in grades 11 and 12. 

Currently, 1,315 students are studying at the school.
