blog

By Rekhi Ram Rana, Tansen, Mar 6: The two youths, who returned after working a decade in a foreign land, have been making a handsome income of Rs 1 lakh monthly from vegetable farming.

Dil Bahadur Thapa and Lal Bahadur Thapa from Debisthan, Rampur-4 of Tansen district are making a lucrative income of Rs 1 lakh from vegetable farming.

Both hardworking farmers returned after their long eight years of stay in Bahrain. They started farming by renting 10 ropanis of land.

Dil Bahadur said that they have been cultivating seasonal and non-seasonal vegetables for the past four years after deciding to stay in the homeland.

He said, “We decided to start farming after deciding to stay in the country following the eight long years stay in the foreign land. We now are making a lucrative income by staying at home with the family. There is only money in foreign land, but not the love and warmth of family.”

He said that they are making a good income from vegetable farming which they started four years ago after returning to their homeland during the COVID-19 pandemic. There is no problem for the market for the production of two youths. Vegetables are supplied to Rampur market and Syangja market.

Lal Bahadur said that beans, tomatoes, bitter gourd, zucchini, and cucumber are produced on the farm.

Other than that, they produce flowers, Globe Amaranth, and marigolds amid the Dashan-Tihar festivals.

Lal Bahadur said that they have been producing flowers and selling them by making garlands since last year in the season. There is a good income from flowers.

According to Dil Bahadur, 70 per cent of the profit can be made if vegetables grow easily and get market value.

He said, “We often ourselves take the produced in the market, only sometimes we employ.”
