By Our Correspondent,Banke, Mar. 6: Blacktopping of the under-construction Nepalgunj-Gulariya road section, part of the Postal Highway of the National Pride Project, has begun.
Ramesh Sharma, managing director of the construction company, said that the blacktopping of the one-way road from Nandani Mill in Nepalgunj had begun. He said that the work would be completed within a year if the budget was disbursed on time. He said, "Preparations are underway to blacktop at least 20 kilometres of the road this year."
The expansion work of a 27.62-kilometre long road, including an 11.6-kilometre four-lane and a 16.02-kilometre two-lane, is scheduled to be completed by December 12, 2025. Almost 60 per cent of the construction work has been completed since its contract was awarded on January 29 last year.
Lila Bahadur Bhandari, head of the Planning Office of the Postal Highway Directorate in Nepalgunj, said that he had been in the capital for a few days to facilitate payment to the construction company. He said that Rs. 440 million is due for the work completed until mid-February. The construction contract was awarded for Rs. 2.78 billion.
