By A Staff Reporter,Kathmandu, Oct. 11: Nepathya concluded their Canada musical tour with a grand performance at the iconic Massey Hall, a venue celebrated for its historical significance.
This tour marked their debut in Canada, with shows in Calgary, Vancouver, and lastly in Toronto.
According to a press release issued by Nepalaya, Minga Norge Sherpa, a Nepali living in Canada, expressed his pride in Toronto, saying, “Seeing Nepathya’s musical performances in such a prestigious venue was a proud moment for all Nepalis.”
Fans began filling the hall an hour before the scheduled start.
The concert kicked off with a music video of ‘Sa Karnali', electrifying the atmosphere in the three-tiered hall Monday evening.
The evening took off with the band’s rendition of ‘Koshiko Pani Yo Jindgani’ and a mix of both new and classic hits followed.
Amrit Gurung, the band’s lead singer, engaged with the crowd, singing along with them.
He emphasised the bond that ties all Nepalis, regardless of where they are.
“No matter where Nepalis are in the world, Nepal remains our shared homeland,” said Gurung.
Gurung urged the audience to stand united against those promoting division based on caste, religion or class. His sentiments were met with overwhelming applause from the Toronto audience.
Many fans, even from neighbouring America, attended the Toronto concert, informed Nepalaya.
During the performance of ‘Yo Jindagani’, Amrit shared his commitment to philanthropy through the Nepathya band’s initiative with Manavsewa Ashram.
The band entertained while also highlighting their ongoing social contributions. Annie Singh, a Nepali student, studying in Canada remarked, “This concert was a delightful blend of nostalgia and exhilaration. Nepathya brought a touch of Nepal to those of us longing for home.”
The band wrapped up with their hit ‘Rato Ra Chandra Surya’, leaving the audience in high spirits.
Amrit was joined onstage by Dhruv Lama on drums, Suraj Thapa on keyboards, Subin Shakya on bass guitar, Niraj Gurung on guitar, and Shanti Rayamajhi on the Madal.
Dipendra Jung KC from the organising team observed the strong turnout of Canadian Nepalis eager to experience Nepathya. He believed the concert set a new milestone for Nepali music in Canada.
Following their successful Canadian tour finale in Toronto, the 14-member team of Nepathya is returning to Nepal on October 12.
