21 works selected for Bimal Gurung Memorial Library Award

By Our Correspondent,Dharan, Sept. 30: Poet Bimal Gurung Memorial Library is set to honour the outstanding literary works published in the year 2079 BS.

The recipient of this prestigious award will receive a cash prize of Rs. 200,000.

The award and honour will be conferred on the occasion of 52nd birth anniversary of poet Bimal Gurung and the National Poetry Festival this year.  

The ‘Bimal Gurung Kriti Puraskar 2079’ will be bestowed upon the best work published last year.

Likewise,  the top three poems will receive cash prizes of Rs. 21,000, Rs. 18,000 , and Rs. 17,000 , along with certificates, during the National Poetry Festival.

It was announced in a  press conference held recently by the Poet Bimal Gurung Memorial Library in Buddhchowk, Dharan.

Among the 101 entries submitted for the Bimal Gurung Prize 2079, a selection committee identified the top 21 works.

 Additionally, from the pool of 74 poems submitted to the National Poetry Festival 2080, the committee chose the 10 most exceptional poems.

Purna Bahadur Gurung, the patron and president of the library, said that Vishal Nalbo, a poet hailing from Kalebung, India, will be honoured with the 'Bimal Gurung Memorial Library Yuwa Pratibha Samman 2080'. 

Furthermore, Gurung shared that the library currently houses a collection of 97,124 books in various languages, including Nepali, English, Hindi, and other regional dialects.
