Phalelung's Uday scales Mt. Manaslu

By Radha Luitel,Phidim, Sept. 27: Uday Kerung of Phalelung Rural Municipality–3, Panchthar, has successfully climbed Mount Manaslu. He reached the top of the 8,163-metre mountain at 6 am on Sunday.

He climbed the peak through the Mountain Scenery Treks agency. Along with Kerung, six other foreigners also successfully reached the top of the mountain. Kerung, who has been active in mountaineering since 2021, has previously climbed Mera Peak and has reached the base camps of Annapurna and Mount Everest.

Talking to The Rising Nepal after his ascent, Kerung said that he wants to climb peaks over 8,000 metres. "This Manaslu ascent has energised me. I will now climb Nepal's mountains that are higher than 8,000 metres."

He also unfurled Nepal's national flag and the flag of Phalelung Rural Municipality on the top of Manaslu.
